The 75th Anniversary of the World Affairs Council of Rhode Island was celebrated with Marvin Kalb, former NBC Moderator of Meet the Press and The Kalb Report and Mayor David N. Cicilline who presented a key to the City of Providence to Yvonne G. Shilling, our executive director and current Chair of our Program Committee.

We are so pleased that Mayor David N. Cicilline came to our WACRI Gala at The Hope Club to honor Yvonne Shilling.

And after he presented her with the key, in Yvonne’s warm and witty way, she said, “One more thing. He is the Mayor of our great city because I taught him in school.”

Our Tribute Committee Family

Working quietly and behind the scenes, a group of us put our heads together to honor Yvonne. Greg Chafee, Chair of the Tribute Committee along with Rita Watson and Barry Fain, publisher of the East Side Monthly. He and Rita collaborated on a feature article highlighting the WACRI Event and Yvonne’s Tribute.
